Hi I'm Charlotte Skiles a nutrition consultant and clinical herbalist for Eat in Peace wellness consulting located in Austin, Texas. And today's question is what is a low sodium diet. And a low sodium diet is no more then an eighth of a teaspoon of salt per day. And that is a very, very difficult to accomplish so I highly recommend that you sit down with a nutrition professional if this diet is indeed appropriate for you and sort through your options in order to keep your sodium at that level. Because you've got to be aware of foods in nature like celery that contain sodium even though they are extremely good for you and come unadulterated so to speak they're still going to have some sodium in there. So this really involves a lot of food preparation and avoidance of obviously high sodium food sources such as processed meats and soups and that's pretty much common sense but yeah a low sodium diet no more then an eight of a teaspoon of salt per day so good luck with that.
