What's up? I'm Chris Powell, and I want to talk to you about protein. Now I don't play favorites when it comes to my macronutrients. Which are proteins, carbs, and fats. But protein is something we hear a lot of, but most of us really don't understand it very much. Now protein, what is it? It's the building block for the human body. Everything that you see on me is made of protein. My eyeballs, my hair, my skin, and my muscles. So the next question is, is how much protein should we be eating in a day? And you're going to see a lot of different thought processes on how much we should be ingesting. Now for the regular sententiary individual, a really quick rule of thumb is you could eat about maybe half your body weight in grams of protein. However, when it comes to what your goals are. Perhaps if you goals are weight loss, then you'll also hear people talk about increasing your protein intake. Now of course I am a proponent of protein. I whole hearteningly encourage some form of protein at every single meal. Now also keep in mind though when you start moving more. When you start exercising. Well that's stressful on the body. We're actually breaking down our muscles which are made of protein. So your protein requirements go up. So the more you move, and the more you exercise. Your needs can actually go up to about one gram for every pound of body weight that you are. So there's a lot of different train of thought when it comes to protein, but as long as you keep it between half your body weight and your body weight in grams of protein. You're always in the safe zone.
