Planning healthy meals and snacks for your preschooler can help establish healthy eating patterns for life. Use these 4 tips to help get you starte 25Routine. Children have small stomachs so need to eat more often than adults. Offer food every 2-3 hours. This works out to 3 meals and 2-3 snacks per day. Avoid grazing between scheduled meals and snacks so your child comes to the table hungry and ready to eat. If your child is hungry between meals and snacks, offer only water and let them know that the next meal is around the corner. This will help reinforce routine. Avoid distractions. Serve all meals and snacks at the table so your child can concentrate on eating. Turn off the TV and don’t allow toys at the table. Offer balanced meals and snacks.
